Expression of Interest

This requestfor expressions of interest follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in Development Business of December 1, 2008.

The Government of the Republic of Botswana (GoB) has received financing (herein after called the " Loan") from the World Bank towards the cost of the "Morupule B Generationand Transmission Project", and intends to apply a portion of this Loan to eligible payments for consulting services for coal resources, reserves and quality assessment. The services include the assessment and detailed compilation of existing geological data together with new information collected from exploration industry active within the study area and analogue information from other coal basins having similar geological attributes.

The expected implementation period of the services is between April 2012 and September 2012.

The Ministry of Minerals, Energy & Water Resources (MMEWR) through the Department of Geological Survey (DGS) now invites eligible consultancy firms to indicate their interests in providing the services. Interested consultancy firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified toperform the services for which they are expressing their interests (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultancy firms may associate on joint venture or sub-consultancy basis to enhance their qualifications.

Expression of Interests [EOIs] from prospective consultancy firms should also specifythe following information:

• Evidence of business registration in home country;

• Capability profile of all members of the Joint Venture if applicable;

• Joint venture agreement or intent to enter into a joint venture agreement, if applicable; and

• Evidence of track record in the services.

It is required that any firm responding to this request for Expression of Interest must have at least ten (10) years of relevant consultancy experience including previous work in the assessment of coal resources, reserves and quality.

The firms must be able to mobilize the experts required for carrying out the services.

A consultancy firms will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, May 2004 revised October 2006 and May 2010.

Interested consultancy firms may obtain further information at the address below, during office hours [i.e. 0800 hours to 1200 hours and 1400 hours to 1600 hours] between Monday and Friday.

An Expression of Interest must be submitted in six (6) copies (one original and five copies) in a sealed envelope to the address below, on or before 10.00 hours local time on the 2nd May 2012 and should be clearly marked "Expression of Interest for consulting services for coal resources, reserves and quality assessment - Botswana".
