Description

Request for Expression of Interest for Consultancy Services for Undertaking Research Work on the Coastal Sedimentary Basin IV shared between Angola and Namibia

SADC-GMI Background

The Southern African Development Community Groundwater Management Institute (SADC-GMI), a subsidiary of the SADC Secretariat, is established as a Centre of Excellence on sustainable groundwater management issues in the SADC region, hosted by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Pretoria, South Africa on behalf of and under the strategic guidance of the SADC Secretariat, Directorate of Infrastructure and Services, in Gaborone, Botswana.

Assignment Background

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is home to about thirty (30) transboundary aquifers (TBAs) that support the primary water needs and livelihoods of a significant portion of the region's population. Although there is a fair understanding of the strategic aquifers, increased data collection will enhance the capacity of institutions to manage groundwater resources sustainably. As the result, SADC-GMI would like to undertake some research work on the Coastal Sedimentary Basin IV which is shared between Angola and Namibia.

Objective of the assignment

The project aims to undertake research in the Coastal Sedimentary Basin IV through a Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA), which will present a comprehensive understanding of the TBA.

This request for Expression of interest is for enlisting the services of a firm of consultants to undertake the research of the Coastal Sedimentary Basin IV shared between Angola and Namibia through a Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) – to gather the state of knowledge of the TBA system and identify priority issues and keyways forward.

How to apply

Interested and qualifying consulting firms are required to submit expression of interest proposals to SADC-GMI on or before 16 June 2023 electronically to: [email protected] , before 12 midnight (RSA Time).

NB: Should you not hear from us three months after your submission, please consider your application/submission unsuccessful.
