• This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in United Nations Development Business No. 739 on the 1st of December, 2008.

• The Government of Botswana has applied for a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) of the World Bank Group ("referred to in the advert as Bank") in various currencies towards the cost of construction of water network infrastructure from the surface reservoirs supplied by North South Carrier (NSC) to Morupule BPower Station. The Government will on lend the proceeds of the loan to Botswana Power Corporation (BPC). It is intended that part of the proceeds of this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for CONSTRUCTION OF WATER NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE FROM THE SURFACE RESERVOIRS SUPPLIED BY NORTH SOUTH CARRIER (NSC) TO MORUPULE B POWERSTATION. The scope of works comprise:

(i)) 2 times 3.7 km of uPVC pipeline diameter 355mm Class 12 to be laid in parallel in the same trench

(ii) 2 No. 300mm dia. PN16 f low control valves

(iii) various sizes of double orifice air valves

(iv) 2 No. 300mm dia. PN16 gate valves

(v) scour valves,

(vi) 2 No. 300mm dia. meters

(vii) Chambers for valves and water meters.

• Botswana Power Corporation now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for CONSTRUCTION OF WATER NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE FROM THE SURFACE RESERVOIRS SUPPLIED BY NORTH SOUTH CARRIER (NSC) TO MORUPULE B POWER STATION. Eligible bidders are required to have a track record of successful construction of water supply network infrastructure. The Evaluation and Qualification Criteria shall take into account amongst other things, the following criteria:

(i) Experience under contracts in the role of contractor, subcontractor,or management contractor for at least the last five [5] years prior to the applications submission deadline, and with activity in at least nine (9) months in each year.

(ii) 3 years experience in the construction of similar water supply infrastructure

(iii) Minimum average turnover of US$3 Million over the past 5 years

(iv) Availability of liquid assets and/or lines of credit to cover cash-flow for three months (3) of their tendered sum

• A complete set of bidding documents may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to Botswana Power Corporation, Motlakase House, Macheng Way, Industrial Sites, P. O. Box 48, Gaborone and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of One Hundred and Ten Botswana Pula (BWP 110.00) or equivalent in a freely convertible currency.

• The provisions in the Instructions to Bidders and in the General Conditions of Contract are the provisions of the Bank Standard Bidding Documents: Procurement of Works - May 2006 revised March and April 2007. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits (May 2004, revised October 2006).

• Bids must be delivered to the tender box situated in the foyer of Motlakase House (Address on 5 above) on or before 12:00 Local Time on 18 th June, 2010 and must be accompanied by a security of not less than one (1) percent of the bid. Late bids will be rejected.

• Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders' representatives who choose to attend at 12:30 Local Time on 18 th June, 2010 at the offices of The Chief Executive, Botswana Power Corporation, Supply Chain Management Conference Room, Motlakase House, Macheng Way, Industrial Sites, P.
