| 10 monthsFisheries is a pivotal sector of the Seychelles’ economy and are expected to continue to play a key role in the socio-economic development of the country. In the context of multifaceted challenges facing the sector and evolving governance structures, the need for improved economic data and decision-support tools for fisheries policy formulation, sector development and management has been recognised. This is true given the difficulties in estimating the overall contribution of fisheries and fisheries-related activities towards the economy.The need to improve data collection and as well as to better understand the dynamics of the fisheries-related industries, particularly on the economic and social contribution has also been realized. Therefore, it has now become imperative to develop a system flexible enough to allow the integration of further and recently developed activities relying on fish resources, like aquaculture with clear visibility on relation and economic flows with other activitiesThe Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture (MFAg) is now recruiting a consultant to undertake the development of a Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) and the artisanal component for the Fishery Satellite Account with the aim of improving on national accounting methods on the contribution of fisheries to the economy and to examine both growth and distributional issues within a single analytical framework.Expressions of Interest (EOI) shall consist of a cover letter and Curriculum Vitae. The deadline for submission of EOI is 30th September 2020 at 15h30. The submission should be clearly marked using the subject line ‘‘Development of Social Accounting Matrix & Artisanal Fisheries Component for the Satellite Account”.
