Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines. 5. ### EESIP-PMU ### ERITREA EDUCATION SECTOR INVESTMENT PROJECT ### PROJECT MANAGEMENT UNIT - MoE ### Expression of Interest for ### INTERNATIONAL CONSULTANCY SERVICES FOR EDITING OF SECONDARY SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS AND TEACHER'S GUIDES The Government of Eritrea has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank towards the cost of the Education Sector Investment Project, and it intends to utilize part of the proceeds to finance for the consulting services of editing secondary school textbooks and teacher's guides. Objectives of the Consultancy Services: The main objective of the consultancy is to provide editing services # mainly onthe use of language # for the manuscripts of the secondary school textbooks and teacher's guides of different subject areas, which are being developed by authors/ teams of writers. ### ### Duties and Responsibilities of the Editors: · Edit the useof language (style, function, grammar, words) in the manuscripts; · Make comments and give suggestions on the quality of the instructions and the functionality of illustrations, including potential copyright risks; and · Prepare written reports and evaluation of the findings and submit the edited versions of the books Duration: The consultancy is expected to take place for six months starting August 2010. Required Qualification and Experience Consulting firms shall ensure adequate financial and technical resources availableto complete the assignment within the specified time frame and shall not engage in any assignment that may place them in a position of not being able to carry out the specific services described in the Terms of Reference (TOR) # which can be obtained on request # for this consultancy. Specifically, the qualifications and experience of the consultants proposed by the firms should meet the following requirements: 1. The team leader or the coordinator of the project should have the following qualification and experience: · Masters Degree in English or English language teaching,with Bachelors Degree in Education preferred; · Five years editorial and book production experience, preferably in an international publishing company; and · Native speakers of English are preferred 2. The editors should have the following qualifications and experience: · Bachelors Degree in English or Journalism in English, with minor concentration in the area of assignment (e.g.., physics) · Three years editorial and book production experience, preferably in an international publishing company; · Native speakers of English preferred; and · Skilled in writing and editing secondary school textbooks for developing countries.
