REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST (CONSULTANT SERVICES) COUNTRY: SUDAN Revitalizing the Sudan Gum Arabic Production and Marketing Project Agricultural Sector Grant No.: MDTF- NS Grant No.TF094764 Project ID No.: P110588 No.: RSGAPMP/PCU/Cons./09/2011 Expressions of Interest GUM ARABIC MARKET INFORMATIONSYTEM (GAMIS) The Government of National Unity of the Republic of the Sudan has received a grant from Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) under the administrationof the World Bank, in addition to a Co-financing from International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), toward the cost of Revitalizing the Sudan Gum Arabic Production & Marketing Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to payments for consultant services The objective of the computerized Gum Arabic Market Information System (GAMIS) is to capture, store and disseminate the prices of Gum Arabic (two main types - Hashab & Talha) produced in Sudan.- on a daily basis. Currently, the prices of these commodities in select markets as well as the export prices (obtained from Port Sudan) . GAMIS system Overview - The proposed Gum Arabic Market Information system (GAMIS) will be a simple, modular, web-enabled Market Information System that will capture the prices of Gum Arabic (Hashab & Talha) from several markets and actors in Sudan. The data will beinput into a SQL database. The output from the GAMIS will mainly be available in three ways # (a) displayed in electronic format on the GAMIS web-site (b) in printed formats as reports, and (c) in sms format on mobile phones. The National Forest Corporation now invites eligible consultant firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultant firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experiencein similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultant firmsmay associate to enhance their qualifications. Consultants expressing interest as an association shall indicate in the EOI the form of association (Joint Venture orsub-consultancy). A short list will be established in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).
