Description
In Jordan, the plastic sector plays a vital role in the countrys economy, but it also leads to severe plastic pollution due to mismanagement. While in Jordan existing regulations address downstream aspects of plastic pollution, such as collection and recycling, there are currently no proposed upstream solutions to shift from single-use plastics (SUP) economy to a more sustainable approach in the food and beverage (F&B) sector.
To address systemic plastic pollution, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), through its eighth replenishment cycle (GEF-8), launched a new generation of Integrated Programmes (IPs). These programmes aim for large-scale, cross-sectoral interventions that tackle the root causes of environmental degradation rather than isolated symptoms. They foster collaboration among governments, the private sector, and civil society to promote transformative change.
To develop a data-driven Behavioral Change Strategy and practical market survey tools that support the avoidance and reduction of Single-Use Plastics and the adoption of sustainable packaging within the food and beverage (F&B) sector in Jordan. The assignment aims to achieve measurable behavioral and social change toward a circular economy.
