RFP/AAA2/2603/14 - Strengthening Grassroots Conflict Early Warning and Response through Civil Society participation and engagement in Western and Southern provinces of Sri LankaSri Lanka’s current governance and social cohesion landscape is shaped by overlapping post-conflict legacies, economic instability, and ongoing political volatility. While the end of the armed conflict created opportunities for reconciliation and democratic renewal, unresolved grievances, weak accountability mechanisms, and contested civic space continue to generate fragility at national and community levels. Recent findings from the Sri Lanka Barometer (2025) indicate a positive shift in public attitudes towards reconciliation, with 48.5% of citizens identifying unity among ethnic and religious groups as esse
