Rehabilitation of Dar Khalil Shawasha traditional building in Hussan, Bethlehem, Palestine using traditional techniques in line with international cultural heritage rehabilitation standards. The proposed work includes restoration of the interior spaces and exterior facades including cleaning, replastering, repointing using lime mortar, retiling where needed and installing new electrical, mechanical and communication systems as well as the rehabilitation of the wood and steel doors and windows. It also includes adapting the spaces and constructing a utilities unit to serve visitors. Finishing works include also installation of new lighting fixtures and sanitary appliances. The outdoor space around the ground floor will be reorganized to facilitate access for visitors and to provide outdoor sitting area.
