  • The Government of Botswana has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of Botswana Emergency Water Security and Efficiency Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for North-East and Tutume Sub-District Villages Water Supply Scheme. Bidding process will be governed by the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations.
  • Water Utilities Corporation now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for the construction of the North East-Tutume Sub District Villages Water Supply Scheme – Upgrade and Remedial Works. The project seeks to improve the water supply system for the above-mentioned areas. The scope of work comprises of the following:
  • Construction of a new booster pump station near Kalakamati village,
  • Provision of power supply at the Kalakamati Booster Pump Station,
  • Construction of a 1ML Reinforced Concrete Break Pressure Tank at the Kalakamati Booster Station site,
  • Construction of 5ML Reinforced Concrete Reservoir at Masingwaneng treatment works,
  • Construction of a 6.8ML Reinforced Concrete reservoir at Mbalambi pump station site,
  • Construction of a pipeline in Goshwe,
  • Construction of a pipeline from Makaleng to Sebina,
  • Construction of a pipeline from Kalakamati to Masunga,
  • Remedial Mechanical and Electrical Works at various pump stations,
  • Provision of hoists in various pump stations,
  • Provision of safety equipment and emergency showers and eyebaths at all facilities where chlorine dioxide is produced,
  • Clearing of blockages in sludge supernatant pipes,
  • Improving the disinfection system at Masingwaneng Waterworks,
  • Improvements of the desludging of ponds,
  • Construction of a booster pump station and associated pipework at Moroka Reservoir site,
  • Construction of elevated tanks at various villages in the project area.

The works will be carried out over a 15 months construction period exclusive of a 2 months commissioning period.

  • Bidding will be conducted through international competitive procurement using Request for Bids (RFB) as specified in the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers- Procurement in Investment Projects Financing” dated July 2016 (“Procurement Regulations”), and is open to all eligible Bidders as defined in the Procurement Regulations.
  • Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from Water Utilities Corporation, Keneilwe Chengeta, [email protected] and inspect the Bidding document during office hours (0800 hours to 1600 hours) at the address given below:
  • The Bidding document in English may be purchased by interested eligible Bidders upon the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of P2500.00 (USD250). The method of payment will be cash or direct deposit in favor of Water Utilities Corporation. The document will be collected at Water Utilities Corporation offices upon payment of non-refundable fee.
  • Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 5th September 2019. Electronic Bidding will not be permitted. Late Bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the Bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who chooses to attend at the address below on the 5th September 2019at 14:00hrs.
  • Bidding companies must be registered in the following: Certified copy of Company Registration Certificate for international companies, For local companies, Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) registration: (Code: 03 (Civil Engineering), Sub code 06 (water supplies, Sanitation Reticulation & Irrigation works), Grade E (Unlimited).
  • A Non- compulsory pre-bid meeting shall be held at Masingwaneng Treatment Plant in Masingwaneng on the 31st July 2019 at 0900 hours. (Coordinates (Google maps) for Masingwaneng Treatment Plant:20°50'23.3"S 27°19'27.6"E).
