  • The Government of Botswana has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Botswana Emergency Water Security & Efficiency Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for Construction of Boteti Southern and Central Cluster Villages Water Supply Project.
  • The Water Utilities Corporation now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for Construction of Boteti Southern and Central Cluster Villages Water Supply Project.

The project seeks to improve water supply situation in the villages of Mokoboxane, Kedia, Mopipi, Toromoja, Xhumo, Mmadikola, Rakops and Xere, based on BOS 32- 2015 drinking water specification and internal WUC standards, as a long-term supply solution for the next twenty (20) years to 2042.

The scope of work entails equipping and electrification of seven (7) boreholes; construction of ground reservoirs; construction of elevated water tanks; laying of raw water pipeline; laying of treated water transmission pipeline; construction of Reverse Osmosis Treatment Plant; construction of booster Pumping Station at Rakops; and installation of SCADA System.

3.The project period is 27 months comprising of a construction period of fifteen (15) months and 12 months defects liability period, which includes Mobilization and demobilization periods.

  • Bidding will be conducted through international competitive procurement using Request for Bids (RFB) as specified in the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers- Procurement in Investment Projects Financing” after July 2016 “Procurement Regulations”, and is open to all eligible Bidders as defined in the Procurement Regulations.
  • Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from Miss Keneilwe Chengeta at [email protected] and inspect the Bidding document during office hours (0800 hours to 1600 hours) at the address given below. Bidders to send an email requesting for inspection of bid documents.
  • The Bidding document in English may be purchased by interested eligible Bidders upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of P2500.00. The method of payment will be by direct deposit in favour of Water Utilities Corporation. The account number for payment is Water Utilities Corporation, ABSA Bank Industrial Branch, Gaborone, Current Account No: 1447860 or direct payment at the address below. The tender number should be used as the reference number. The document will be emailed by Water Utilities Corporation upon payment of non-refundable fee.
  • Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 1400HRS CAT (GMT+2) on 4 February 2022. Electronic Bidding will not be permitted. Late Bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the Bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who chooses to attend at the address below on 4 February 2022.
  • Bidding companies must be registered in the following: Certified copy of Company Registration Certificate for international companies, For local companies, Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) registration: (Code: 03 (Civil Engineering), Sub code 06 (water supplies, Sanitation Reticulation & Irrigation works), Grade E (Unlimited).Bidding companies must also submit valid Tax Clearance Certificate from BURS for local companies, Valid certified Tax Clearance Certificate or equivalent for international companies from Country of Registration.
  • A Non- compulsory pre-bid meeting shall be held online on the 11 January 2022 at 0900 hours, Botswana Time through Microsoft Team. Interested bidding companies should send an email requesting for the meeting link by end of day(Botswana Time) on the 10 January 2022. A Non-compulsory Site visit shall be held on the 12 January 2022 and the meeting point will be Mokoboxane Village Kgotla at 0900 hours. The site visit will cover the boreholes located in the Kaka 4B Ranches, Kedia, Mokoboxane, Mopipi, Xhumo, Toromoja, Mmadikola, Rakops and Xere Villages.
  • All Bids must be accompanied by a Bid-Securing Declaration.
  • Attention is drawn to the Procurement Regulations requiring the Borrower to disclose information on the successful bidder’s beneficial ownership, as part of the Contract Award Notice, using the Beneficial Ownership Disclosure Form as included in the bidding document.
