Invitation for Prequalification

This invitation for prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in UN Development Business of 8 July 2010.

Eskom Holdings SOC Limited (Eskom) hasreceived financingfrom the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (WorldBank), African Development Bank (AfDB), Agence Française de Développment (AFD), European Investment Bank (EIB) and Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) towards the cost of the Eskom Renewables Support Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for a 100 MWe Concentrating Solar Power Plant, CED (S) 2011/CN/02. Eskom intends to prequalify contractors and/or firms for the Design, Supply, Installation, Operation and Maintenance of a minimum 100 MWe Central Receiver Concentrating Solar Power Plant, in Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa. It is expected that invitations for bid will be issued in April 2014.

Prequalification will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, May 2004 (revised in October 2006 and May 2010), and is opento all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines.

Interested eligible applicants may obtain further information from and inspect the prequalification document at Eskom Megawatt Park Building, 1 Maxwell Drive, Sunninghill, Johannesburg, 2000, South Africa during office hours (09h00 am to 16h00 pm) from 01 December 2013.A complete set of the prequalification document in Englishmay be obtained by interested applicants on the submission of a written application to the address below.

Applicants who want the pre-qualification documents to be send by a courier or mail will make the necessary arrangements at their own cost with any courier or mail company of their choice to collect the documents from the above address.

Applications for prequalification should be submitted in sealed envelope, delivered to the address below by 10H00am (South African Central Time) on 12 February 2014 and be clearly marked "Prequalification for the Design, Supply, Installation, Operation and Maintenance of a minimum 100 MWe Central Receiver Concentrating Solar Power Plant, CED (S) 2011/CN/02".
