REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

BACKGROUND
The Government of the Kingdom of Lesotho through the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development has secured a funding from the World Bank toward the implementation of Pathways to Sustainable Livelihood Project (PSLP) for a five (5) year period up to 2027. The Ministry through the support of World Bank has developed a Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) with the intention of improving its services to the nation. This important document is in English language. For efficient implementation of the mechanism and for it to be easily accessible to all the Ministry’s clients and the community at large, the document has to be translated from English into Sesotho. The Ministry is therefore in the process of recruiting a consultant to assist in the translation of the GRM from English language into Sesotho language.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of this translation is to produce a high-quality translation of the Grievance Redress Mechanism into Sesotho language ensuring that the translation is accurate, fluent, and error free.
SCOPE
The Translator will be engaged as an individual consultant in order to provide thorough and accurate translation of document.
The scope of the work for this translation service includes:
- Translation of the entire Grievance Redress Mechanism, including all text, tables, figures, and other visuals.
- Proof-reading and editing of the translation to ensure accuracy, fluency, and cultural appropriateness.
- The finalised translated documents should be submitted electronically. The translator must also respect the same format in which the document was originally submitted. REPORTING
The consultant will undertake this work, under the overall supervision of the project Environment and Social Safeguard Specialist.
The Translator will be required to carry out the tasks remotely but will be required to report regularly on the status of tasks assigned.
DELIVERABLES AND ACTIVITIES
- Draft translated GRM in Sesotho - Within two weeks of signing the contract, the consultant will present a draft of the Sesotho translation of Grievance Redress Mechanism
- Final translated GRM in Sesotho - Final draft of the Sesotho translation of the GRM to be submitted within five weeks of signing the contract incorporating inputs/comments from the Social Development team. DURATION
- The duration of the consultancy is five weeks, QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate will be expected to have:
- At least an advanced university degree in the field of Social Sciences, Languages, Development Studies or related relevant fields of study.
- At least five (5) years experience working as an English to Sesotho, Sesotho to English translator.
- Excellent working experience in writing and speaking clearly in English and Sesotho
- Demonstrated experience in writing technical and/or diplomatic documents in English and Sesotho.
- Prior experience providing English to Sesotho, Sesotho to English translations in an International Organisation or Government is desirable.
