  • The Government of Botswana has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of Botswana Emergency Water Security and Efficiency Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for the Construction of the Selebi Phikwe – Serule Water Transfer Scheme. Bidding process will be governed by the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations
  • Water Utilities Corporation now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders for A Works Contract for the Construction of the Selebi Phikwe – Serule Water Transfer Scheme

The Works seeks to improve water supply in six (6) villages by augmenting supply through construction of 130km pipelines to connect Selebi Phikwe to these independent villages of Serule, Mmadinare, Damochojenaa, Gojwane, Topisi and Moreomabele and a long term supply solution for the next 20 years to 2040.

The project comprises the construction of the transfer pipeline (with pipe sizes ranging from 110mm to 355mm diameter) from Selebi Phikwe to the village distribution tanks constituting pipelines, balancing tanks, pump stations, elevated GMS Panel village distribution tanks, electro-mechanical works, telemetry and SCADA.

The total project period is 30 months comprising of 18 months for construction and 12 months’ defects liability period, which includes Mobilization and demobilization periods.

To be considered for award, the Bidder should have experience of projects of similar nature and magnitude.

  • Bidding will be conducted through international competitive procurement using Request for Bids (RFB) as specified in the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers- Procurement in Investment Projects Financing” dated July 2016 Procurement Regulations edition as per legal agreement (“Procurement Regulations”), and is open to all eligible Bidders as defined in the Procurement Regulations.
  • Interested eligible Bidders may obtain further information from Water Utilities Corporation, Keneilwe Chengeta, [email protected] and inspect the Bidding document during office hours (0800 hours to 1600 hours) at the address given below:
  • The Bidding document in English may be purchased by interested eligible Bidders upon the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of BWP 2,500.00 (USD 250.00). The method of payment will be by direct deposit in favour of Water Utilities Corporation. The document will be collected at Water Utilities Corporation offices upon payment of the non-refundable fee.
  • Bids must be delivered to the address below on or before 1400hrs, local time (Botswana) on 6 August 2020. Electronic Bidding will not be permitted. Late Bids will be rejected. Bids will be publicly opened in the presence of the Bidders’ designated representatives and anyone who chooses to attend at the address below at 1400hrs, local time (Botswana) on 6 August 2020.

7.Bidding companies must be registered in the following: Certified copy of Company Registration Certificate for international companies, For local companies, Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) registration: (Code: 03 (Civil Engineering), Sub code 06 (water supplies, Sanitation Reticulation & Irrigation works), Grade E (Unlimited).

  • A Non- compulsory pre-bid meeting shall be held online on the 7 July 2020 at 1000 hours, Botswana Time through Microsoft Team. The Site visit shall be held on the 8 July 2020 and the meeting point will be Selibe Phikwe Waterworks. The site visit will cover Mmadinare, Damuchujenaa, Gojwane and Serule, Moreomabele and Topisi.
  • All Bids must be accompanied by a Bid-Securing Declaration.
  • Attention is drawn to the Procurement Regulations requiring the Borrower to disclose information on the successful bidder’s beneficial ownership, as part of the Contract Award Notice, using the Beneficial Ownership Disclosure Form as included in the bidding document.
