Construction of the Masa-Ngwedi (Section D and E) 765kV and 400kV Transmission Line

This invitation for bid follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in UN Development Business of 8 July 2010.

Eskom Holdings SOC Limited (Eskom)has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Eskom Investment Support Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contracts for Medupi Power Station Integration Project – 765kV and 400kV Transmission Lines Project. Eskom now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for:

The construction of the Masa-Ngwedi (Section D and E) 765kV and 400kV Transmission Line over an

19 month period

A pre-bid meeting will be held on January 22, 2016 at 10h00 (RSA time).

The project will consist of the construction of part of the 765kV and 400kV Transmission Power Lines that forms part of the Medupi Power Station Integration Project. The construction will be done in accordance with Eskom's design and specifications. The scope of work consists of the following:

o Access Roads andInfrastructure

o Bush Clearing

o Tower Foundations and Stay Wire Foundations

o Fabrication and Erection of Structural Steel Transmission Towers

o Installation of Hardware, Conductor and Insulators

o Tower Assembly, Stringing and Labelling

o Transmission line regulating

o A Fall Arrest System, the contractor shall notify the employer of the type of system that will be used and

the fall arrest system shall be removed after completion of the activity.

Bidding will be conducted through bidding procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, May 2004 (revised in October 2006 and May 2010), and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries, as defined in the guidelines.

A complete set of the bidding documents written in English may bepurchased by interested eligible bidders upon payment of a non-refundable fee of ZAR4000. Proof of payment to be presented on collection.

Interested eligiblebidders may collect the bidding document at their own cost at the Eskom Head Office, Megawatt Park, Maxwell Drive, Sunninghill, Johannesburg, South Africa, during office hours 09h00 – 15h30 (SA time). Bidders who want the bidding documents to be sent by a courier or mail will make necessary arrangements at their own cost with any courier or mail company of their choice to collect the documents from the above address. Eskom will assume no responsibility for non-delivery or late delivery of the bidding documents.

Bidders may bid for one or more lot (s) (section on the line). All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of

ZAR2 250 000.00 (in respect of SECTION D) or ZAR2 250 000.00 (in respect of SECTION E) or ZAR4 500 000.00 (in respect of SECTION D & E) or equivalent and be delivered with the bid to the address below by 10h00 on February12, 2016.
