This invitation for bidding follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in UN Development Business of 8 July 2010.

Eskom Holdings SOC Limited (Eskom) hasreceived financing from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) towards the cost of the Eskom Investment Support Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for the Majuba Rail Project –Electrical Works.

Eskom now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the procurement of plant design,supply and installation of Overhead Track Equipment, Traction Substations, Auxiliary Power Supplies Substation, Bulk Power Supplies Switching Stations and Signaling Systems herein referred to as Electrical Works for the Majuba Rail Project, PS (MR) 2014/CT/01.

A complete set of the bidding documents written in English may be purchased by interested eligible bidders upon the submission of a written application to the address provided above and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of ZAR 4 000. The method of payment will be via direct deposit into Eskom's account on written request to the email address provided above.

Interested eligible bidders may collect the bidding document at their own cost at the address provided above during office hours08h00am to 16h00pm.

A two envelope system shall apply. Bidders shall submit the original and each copy of the bid in separate envelopes; each bid must contain two envelopes marked on the outside with "Technical Bid" and "Financial Bid." The two sealed envelopes, one marked "Technical Bid" and one marked "Financial Bid," shall be sealed in an outer envelope duly sealed and marked "ORIGINAL BID" and "COPY NO [number]."

All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of ZAR 9 300 000.00 or equivalent.
