Prequalification for a Wind Power Project (100 MW) — Eskom

INVITATION FOR PREQUALIFICATION Republic of South Africa Eskom Investment Support Project - Renewable Energy Investments (100 MW Wind Power Plant) Energy Sector Loan No. 7862-ZA Project ID No. P116410 Invitation for prequalification This invitation for prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in UN Development Business of 8 July 2010.

Eskom Holdings Limited (Eskom) has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Eskom Investment Support Project - Part B:1 Renewable Energy Investments and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan to payments under the contract for: CED(W)/2010/PM/01: Design, Supply, Installation, Commissioning and Hand-over of Wind Turbine Generators, Towers and Associated Equipment for Sere Windfarm Project (Design of a 100MW Windfarm to optimized conditions, manufacture and supply of the turbines and associated equipment, and installation and commissioning of the Works including foundations and electrical reticulation at Koekenaap, Western Cape, South Africa).

The anticipated contract duration is 18 months. Eskom intends to prequalify contractors for the abovementioned contract. It is expected that invitations to bid will be issued in January 2011. Prequalification will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, May 2004 (revised in October 2006 and May 2010), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines.

Applicants who want the bidding documents to be sent by a courier or mail will makenecessary arrangements at their own cost with any courier or mail company of their choice to collect the documents from the above address. Application for prequalification should be submitted in sealed envelopes, delivered to Eskom's offices at: Tender Office (Opposite the Main Reception), D Block west, Ground Floor, Megawatt Park, Maxwell Drive, Sandton, Johannesburg, RSA, on or before 10H00 (Central African Time) on 17 January 2011 and be clearly marked "Prequalification for the Design, Supply, Installation, Commissioning and Hand-over of Wind Turbine Generators, Towers and Associated Equipment for Sere Windfarm Project".Late applications will be rejected.
