Procurement of Printing Textbooks and Teacher's Guides for Middle Schools

The lots comprising this ICB are:

Lot 1: Textbooks and Teacher's Guidesfor Grade Seven

Lot 2: Textbooks and Teacher's Guidesfor Grade Eight

  • This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, issue no. 629 of April 30, 2004
  • The Government of the State of Eritrea has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of Eritrea Education Sector Investment Project, and it intendsto apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the contract for the procurement of printing textbooks and teacher's guides for Middle Schools. ICB No: EESIP/G/ICB/002/2011.
  • The EritreaEducation Sector Investment Project # Project Management unit now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the printing of 816,000 textbooks and teacher's guides for middle schools (grades 7 & 8) to be delivered between June 15, 2011 and July 30, 2011.
  • Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.
  • Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Eritrea Education Sector Investment Project # project Management unit (EESIP-PMU) and inspect the bidding documents at the address given below, from 8:00-11:30 and 14:00-17:30 local time, Monday through Friday.
  • Qualifications requirements include:

a) Financial Capability

The Bidder shall furnish an audited financial statement for the years 2008 and2009

b) Experience and Technical Capacity:

Minimum of five (5) years in operations,

  • A complete set of Bidding Documents in the English language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written Application to the address below and upon payment of a none refundable fee Eritrean Nakfa (ERN) 1,000.00 or equivalent, starting Wednesday, February16, 2010. Foreign bidders shall transfer the cost of Bidding Documents to our Acct. No.: EESIP-GOE 120.301.0359 maintained with Bank of Eritrea. If documents are required to be sent by courier additional USD 45.00 or equivalent shall be transferred to the above account number.
  • Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 15:00 local time on April 5, 2011. Electronic bidding will not bepermitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders' representatives who choose to attend at the address below at 15:00 local time on April 5, 2011. All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Security of USD 5,000.00 for Lot 1, and USD 4,000.00 for Lot 2; or equivalent in other freely convertible currency.
